KKUM was established on May 31^st, 1968. The establishment of KKUM was on the basis to create the cooperative awareness within the UM Campus and also to promote the spirit of cooperative in serving the community throughout services provided.

During the early stage, KKUM only supplying books within the UM Campus but now, it became one of the most prominent cooperative organization in the country, especially in book industry.
